Keilani Farm's recent purchase, "Swingin Jess" overcame a slow start to win the Retama Park Futurity.

This win puts Heath only $40k behind the Nations top Trainer Paul Jones.

Toastin to Memory winning the 2007 Mardi Gras Futurity
2007 started with a big win in the Mardi Gras Futurity. Bill and Julie Pilgrim and Teddy Abrams, Jr.'s "Toastin To Memory" was victorious by a whisker. An inch is as good as a mile though and everyone was very happy. This is the second time Teddy has won this race while undergoing a bone marrow transplant. The last time was in 05 when "Magic Shiney" won it. We pray for Teddy and hope it lifted his spirits.

Ed Smith and Weetona Stanley's "First Carolina" looked super in her trial win for the Remington Park Derby and proved it was just as easy to win the finals. She was 3/100ths off the track record in the finals and looks to be on track for Championship honors if things go her way. She will run again in the Heritage Derby Trials or The Remington Park Championship with older horses.

Alec and Kay Holbein's home bred filly "Caress The Spirit" overcame a bad start to win the Manor Downs Invitational on April 22nd. She was ridden to victory by James "Diamond" Brooks who never doubted the victory! She will most likely run next in the TQHA Sires Cup Futurity trials at Houston.

Dwavne Saucier's "Toastin Dash" sets new track record in the Mr Jess Perry Handicap.

The finals of the Laddie Futurity will run May 5th and we look forward to it because we have six horses going postward for the final. Here is the list in order of our qualifiers and some of their trial pictures:

GT Warlock
owned by
Neil Cormier, Butch Stevens and Bruce Bell.
Financial Finesse
owned by
Lyle Guillory
Jess Sayin Bye
owned by
Royce Loflan
Native Shine
owned by
Noe and Starla Martinez
Radical Shine
owned by
Bobby Barnett and Carol Birdwell
Laney Lous Shine
owned by
Teddy Abrams, Jr

All the Qualifiers were ridden by our regular man Gilbert Ortiz. He had seven winners on the card trial night! Congratulations! We are very proud of Gilbert and grateful that he is a part of our success. Congrats to all qualifiers and good luck in the finals!

UPDATE!!
The Taylor team ran 1,2,3 in the Laddie Futurity. Noe and Starla Martinez' "Native Shine" blows em away in the Laddie Futurity finals! He got out of the gates like a rocket and never looked back outrunning his fast closing stablemates, "GT Warlock' and "Laney Lous Shine" by about a length at the wire. We will most likley see "Native Shine" in the Lee Burwick trials next. So far his record is perfect so we are looking for big things to come from him.
